Gebhard Fugel was a German painter who specialized in Christian subjects and was the leading artist of the large Crucifixion Panorama created for the pilgrimage site of Altötting. His Bible illustrations from the 1930s are warm, direct and easy to read, which has made them popular with visitors to this site.
