David and Goliath (1655, Dutch) by Rembrandt van Rijn - Bible Coloring Page
Details:
The story of David and Goliath is a popular Bible story found in 1 Samuel 17[1]. Goliath was a giant Philistine warrior who challenged the Israelites to single combat[2][3]. Saul, the leader of the Israelites, chose David to fight Goliath[2]. Despite being much smaller and weaker than Goliath, David trusted in God and defeated him with a stone from his sling[1][4]. This story is seen as an example of courage, faith, and overcoming what seems impossible[4].
Rembrandt (1606 - 1669) was a Dutch Golden Age painter, printmaker and draughtsman[1]. He is known for his innovative and prolific work, as well as his uncompromising realism[2]. Rembrandt quickly developed a reputation as a history painter and portraitist[3][4], and is usually regarded as the greatest artist of Holland's “Golden Age”[5].
