The pendentives of the dome of the collegiate church at La Granja in Segovia were adorned with sketches by Francisco Bayeu. These sketches were part of a project initiated by Giambattista Tiepolo, who unfortunately passed away in 1770. Bayeu infused the compositions with harmony, solidity, and clarity, reflecting his training under Mengs.

The sketches depict three of the evangelists in the act of writing, inspired by angels. Additionally, Saint Luke, who is the patron saint of painters, is portrayed holding an image of the Virgin and Child. This imagery suggests a deep connection between the divine inspiration and the act of creation, particularly in the context of religious art.
