Francis de Sales, also known as Saint Francis de Sales, was a Savoyard Catholic prelate who served as the Bishop of Geneva and is a saint of the Catholic Church. He was born on August 21, 1567, in the Château de Sales in what is today Thorens-Glières, Haute-Savoie, France. He is known for his writings on the topic of spiritual direction and spiritual formation, particularly the "Introduction to the Devout Life" and the "Treatise on the Love of God." He is honored as the patron saint of authors, deafness, journalists, and writers. Francis de Sales was beatified on January 8, 1661, and canonized on April 19, 1665, by Pope Alexander VII[1][2][5].
