About the Image:

St. Lawrence O'Toole was born in County Kildare, Ireland around 1128. He was given up as a hostage at age 10 and suffered inhuman treatment until his father intervened. He became a model of virtue and was chosen to replace the Bishop as abbot at age 25. He was unanimously chosen to fill the new See of Dublin in 1161. St. Lawrence was known for his piety, charity, and prudence, and was respected as a negotiator. He died on November 14, 1180, and was canonized in 1225 by Honorius III.
