Part of Durer's series of fifteen images showcasing the Apocalypse, this woodcut displays the angel, with fire-pillared legs, a clouded body, and a rainbow haloing a sun-like head, giving Saint John a Book that the Saint rapidly consumes. The Saint, on the bottom right, his mouth opened wide, brutally sucks in and devours the parchments offered to him.
