Medallion with Saint Paul from an Icon Frame (1100) - Public Domain Orthodox Stock Photo

This small roundel, worked in gold, silver, and cloisonne enamel, depicts Saint Paul and once formed part of the frame of a larger icon. It was made in the Byzantine Empire around 1100 and measures 3 1/4 inches in diameter; it is held in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
