Crypt Church Pipe Organ at the National Shrine, Washington D.C. - Catholic Stock Photo
The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, a Catholic church dedicated to the patroness of our nation, is a place of worship, pilgrimage, evangelization, and reconciliation.
Sacred art adorns each sacred space of the Basilica and its environs, from its Domes and Apses to its Chapels and Oratories throughout the Great Upper Church and Crypt, to its exquisite Outdoor Walks and Gardens. The Crypt Church is the heart of the National Shrine and where the first Mass was celebrated on Easter Sunday in 1924. Mass continues to be celebrated here daily.
