Corpus Christi Benediction at Saint Benedict's Parish (2023, Virginia, USA) - Catholic Stock Photo

Details

The Corpus Christi Benediction is a religious ceremony in the Catholic Church where the Eucharist, or consecrated bread, is displayed and blessed by a priest. This event commemorates the Catholic belief in the presence of the body and blood of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Before the benediction there is a procession, where a consecrated host is carried in a monstrance (a vessel for displaying the host) through the streets of a town or city, usually accompanied by clergy and members of the congregation. This event is typically held on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday.
