The University of Santo Tomas (UST) is the oldest existing Catholic university in Asia, founded in 1611 and located in Manila, Philippines. The original campus was located in Intramuros, the walled city of Manila. UST is the largest university in Manila and draws inspiration from the teachings and philosophy of St. Thomas Aquinas, the Angelic doctor and patron saint of Catholic schools. UST graduates consistently dominate the top ten in courses with board exams such as Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Engineering, Architecture, Accountancy, Education among others. In March 17th 2023 Centenary Awards conferred by the Board of Accountancy of the Philippines, Alfredo Velayo, Washington SyCip and former Rector Herminio Dagohoy were among the honorees who made an indelible mark in accounting profession in its first one hundred years in Philippines.
