Risen Jesus appears to Mary (1690) by Francesco Pittoni - Public Domain Catholic Painting

Details:

The post-resurrection appearances of Jesus in the canonical gospels (and, to a lesser extent, other New Testament books) are said to have occurred after Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection, but before his ascension.

The Gospel of John was written around the year 80 or 90 CE. Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene (who initially fails to recognize him), then to the disciples minus Thomas, then to all the disciples including Thomas (the "doubting Thomas" episode), and finally to Peter and six (not all) of the disciples in Galilee.

Francesco Pittoni was a well-known but undistinguished painter of the Venetian Baroque and Giambattista Pittoni's teacher and uncle.
