Clovis II visiting Saint-Denis (15th Century) - Public Domain Catholic Painting

Clovis II was a king of the Franks who ruled from 634 to 657 AD. He was a member of the Merovingian dynasty and the son of King Dagobert I. Like his father, Clovis II was a Catholic monarch who supported the Church and its institutions. During his reign, he oversaw the construction of several churches and monasteries, and is said to have been a generous patron of the clergy. Clovis II is also known for his military campaigns against the Avars and the Visigoths, which helped to expand the Frankish kingdom. He died in 657 AD and was succeeded by his son, Chlothar III.
