Details:

The Monastery of Na’akuto La’ab is located near Lalibela, Ethiopia[2]. It was built by King Na'akuto La'ab, who succeeded his uncle, the famous King Lalibela[2][3]. The monastery is situated in a cave under the cliff[1][2] and is home to one priest[4]. It contains old artifacts and manuscripts[4], and its history dates back to the 13th century when it was built by King Na'akuto La'ab[3]. According to tradition, Queen Masqal Kibra convinced her husband, King Lalibela, to abdicate in favor of Na'akueto La'ab[3], but 18 months later when the young king's soldiers appropriated a poor farmer's land, he was deposed[3]. Visitors can explore the monastery and learn about its history from the priest who lives there[4][5].
